MIDI Tester Information

The MIDI Tester allows you to check the functionality of your MIDI devices and send and receive MIDI messages. This tester supports:

  • MIDI Monitoring: Displays incoming MIDI messages in real-time
  • Virtual Keyboard: Sends MIDI notes with adjustable velocity
  • Visualization: Graphically displays MIDI notes
  • Test Functions: Predefined tests for chords, scales, and Control Change commands

WebMIDI API Compatibility

This tester uses the Web MIDI API, which is currently not supported by all browsers. Compatible browsers are:

  • Google Chrome (from version 43)
  • Microsoft Edge (from version 79)
  • Opera (from version 30)

Firefox and Safari do not currently support the Web MIDI API by default.

MIDI Connection Troubleshooting

  • Make sure your MIDI device is turned on and properly connected
  • For USB MIDI devices, reconnecting or restarting the device may help
  • Check that no other application is using your MIDI device exclusively
  • Use the "Refresh Devices" button when a new device is connected
  • On Windows, it may be necessary to install special MIDI drivers
